Risks and Challenges of AI

Even though artificial intelligence presents many benefits, it also presents major risks which come with challenges that have to be addressed to keep this power in check. One of the more pressing concerns for the common user is data privacy, as artificial intelligence heavily rely on the collection and analytics of vast amounts of data. Another risk, which might arise in certain context, our bias or discrimination. Depending on who, and which data a model is trained on, it can present an inherent bias; this can be especially dangerous if a model is not trained properly, then used for or in an instance such as law enforcement. These risks carry the possibility for very detrimental consequences, so it is important that we keep our policies and governance in check.
